For founding together a ureide and the phenyl hydrazine, we observe effectively from 140°a live reaction, but by dehydrating water without ammoniac gas, we obtain rapidly a yellow solid, homogeny, easy to purify by crystallization. We can realize this condensation also in the presence of an Eb. solvent, superior than 150°(eg. Decaline). This reaction only provides the second products, but the advantage is, that the substance starts to be prepared easily by barbiturate hydrolyses according to a procedure that we have described somewhere else. 

Contrary to what we thought, it produced a circle with production of a triazolone according to:

This triazolone synthesis is new (other synthesis see [3]). The structure of our new compound results from the dosage of azotes (see the table), by more complete analysis of the substance IV and the spectrums IR; the latter two are compared with a product known by the group, that is the methyl-3-△² – triazoline-1,2,4-one-5 that we have prepared according to GEHLEN[4](see fig.1)

We notice the appearance of net bands around 1700-1720 CM^-1 (CONH)3 , 1580-1600CM ^–1(C=N, cyclic), and for the derive IV and VI to 1500 CM^-1(phenyl). The bands relate to three substances and to other the same family appeared to 1325-1330 CM^-1 and to 1020-1030 CM^-1.

In addition, we have compared our spectrums with something that indicate MAUTNER KUMLER [5] for other triazolones and noticed their analogy.

Experimental Part

We have prepared the substances in the picture; we describe in details the synthesis of the two products.

Phenyl-1-(x-phenylpropyl)-3-△² – triazoline-1,2,4-one-5(IV). In a balloon with agitator to flow back, we introduce 21.6g(0.1mole) phenylethylacetylure, 10.8g (0.1 mole) phenyl hydrazine and 120ml decaline. We heat to flow back, agitating, during eight hours. After re-cooling, it forms a massive yellow crystalline, which we filter and re-crystallize in the ethane. Output 25g (88%); F.176.5-177.5. Soluble substance in the alkali, insoluble in the water, soluble in the hot alcohol, little soluble in cold, soluble in ether and acetone.

Phenyl-1-(x-phenylpropyl)-3-△² – triazoline-1,2,4-one-5(IV). We heat with agitation 31.6g(0.2 mole) diethylacetylure and 21.6g(0.2mole) phenyl hydrazine in a balloon during 10 hours, at the same time with a bath to 175-180°. We observe a vivid relief of NH3 and the water condenses on the balloon. To re-cooling, a massive crystalline appears slowly. By re-crystallization in 650ml boiled methanol in presence of carbon ammo, we obtain a first jet of 17g. The concentrated mother-liquid procures still 7g substances. Output 24g(52%); F. 161°. Soluble in the alkali, very little soluble in water, soluble in hot alcohol, little soluble in cold.
