第一，過(guò)分講究方法和技巧，而不愿意下真功夫。語(yǔ)言的運用是一種技能，但這種技能不是專(zhuān)靠技巧能夠獲得的。太講究方法和技巧會(huì )被其占用很多的時(shí)間和精力，而對學(xué)習的內容本身投入較少的時(shí)間和精力，因此反而會(huì )影響學(xué)習的效果。如有一個(gè)參加高等教育自學(xué)考試的青年，他訂了十多種講自學(xué)和考試的刊物，認真學(xué)習和研究，講起方法來(lái)一套一套的，可他每次參考的科目卻大多考不及格。這是因為他只顧鉆研方法和技巧，在學(xué)習內容上花的時(shí)間和精力太少，而且養成了投機取巧、不肯下功夫的習慣。方法和技巧只能適當利用，并且要從自己的學(xué)習實(shí)踐中摸索出適合自己的方法和技巧才會(huì )真正管用。

      第二，過(guò)分講究速度和效率，不愿花時(shí)間經(jīng)常重復（復習）已學(xué)過(guò)的內容，只求懂了則罷。語(yǔ)言的運用既是一種技能，技能則只有靠熟能生巧，要不斷的重復才會(huì )熟練，只有熟練了才會(huì )形成一種應用自如、不假思索的技能。

      第三，三天打魚(yú)兩天曬網(wǎng)，沒(méi)有恒心，不能長(cháng)期堅持學(xué)習。技能的熟練要有一個(gè)過(guò)程，在這個(gè)過(guò)程中會(huì )遇到各種困難，但不能向困難低頭，要堅持不懈地反復學(xué)習，持之以恒。

      第四，不重視聽(tīng)力訓練。語(yǔ)言是有聲的，我們對語(yǔ)言的感受首先是語(yǔ)言的聲音作用于我們的大腦，如果不練習聽(tīng)力，只是默默地閱讀和背單詞，其結果不僅聽(tīng)不懂別人講外語(yǔ)，而且閱讀水平也難以提高。

      第五，只學(xué)而不“用”，完全是以“學(xué)”的態(tài)度來(lái)學(xué)外語(yǔ)。語(yǔ)言的實(shí)踐性很強，如果只學(xué)而不用，就永遠也學(xué)不好。我們學(xué)語(yǔ)言的目的就是為了應用，要學(xué)會(huì )在用中學(xué)習，這樣才能提高興趣，達到好的學(xué)習效果。
      值得特別注意的是，“用”不只是有意識的用，很多時(shí)候是要無(wú)意識的“用”。比如在吃飯、洗碗、聊天、上網(wǎng)、洗臉、洗腳、洗衣服、做家務(wù)事的時(shí)候，可把錄音和電視打開(kāi)聽(tīng)英語(yǔ)；比如看電影、看新聞、聽(tīng)歌曲，看小說(shuō)也要看英文的；比如電腦上可裝英文的操作系統和應用軟件；比如上網(wǎng)用英文聊天，等等�？傊�，要根據自己的條件營(yíng)造一個(gè)外語(yǔ)環(huán)境，在這個(gè)環(huán)境中使自己聽(tīng)順耳、看順眼、讀順口、寫(xiě)順手（“四順”），就象練氣功一樣達到“順”的境界。這樣在不知不覺(jué)中過(guò)了一段時(shí)間后，你會(huì )發(fā)現已經(jīng)懂了許多，而且會(huì )感覺(jué)學(xué)外語(yǔ)其實(shí)不難。如果只是“精讀”“死教材”，你會(huì )發(fā)現學(xué)外語(yǔ)很難、很枯燥、進(jìn)步很慢，學(xué)了十幾年仍然不會(huì )聽(tīng)、不會(huì )讀、不會(huì )寫(xiě)（“三不會(huì )”）。

The official spoken languages in the Republic of China (Taiwan, capital: Taipei) and the People's Republic of China (Mainland China, capital: Beijing) are more or less the same, derived from the Mandarin Chinese as spoken around the area of Beijing. 

The term "Mandarin" however only refers to standard SPOKEN Chinese which is basically the same and mutually understandable in Taiwan and Mainland China.
